Shannon Smith of South Fayette High School won both the Chapter and the State Knight Essay contest with her composition of "Keeping Order: The First Test of the Constitution." Marcia Gorton read the essay to the attendees.
Dr. Daniel Barr enlightens the group about the early settlement and history of the Pittsburgh region with excerpts from his upcoming book, "A Colony Sprung from Hell: War and Society on the Pittsburgh Frontier, 1744-1794."
President Gorton presents Dr. Barr with the Bronze Good Citizenship Award/Medal in recognition for being an extraordinarily dedicated educator at Robert Morris University and actively addressing the history of the American Revolutionary era in academic settings and in authoring articles and books.
